RIA (Rich Internet Application) has been used to develop new generation web application nowdays more and more frequently, there are several techniques which can implement RIA, and Ajax is an excellent one of those. There are lots of advantages in client development using Ajax and the advantages of JavaEE to build server side architechture have been proved by most successful projects. If we can combine Ajax with JavaEE for web application development to build a software system which is non-refresh and has excellent user performance and architechture, it is very significant.There are their own characters of each RIA technique in using range, efficiency,development difficulties,this article gives the simple analysis of the main RIA technique, then illuminate an web development model which combine Ajax with JavaEE, we use DOJO as the Ajax framework to communicate with server side and build the client UI(User Interface),use freemarker as the analysis engine to deal with the data returned from the server side.This model uses the mainstream MVC framework Struts2 and O/R mapping tool Hibernate3 in the server side ,also the JavaEE design patterns software layers devide theory to build the server side architechture. The model also used the Log4J and Junit which are widely used in JavaEE development as the log and unite test tools to make the quality in server side development higher.This model is very significant for building RIA based Ajax quickly and efficiently.Developing an IM(Instant Messenge) System using this model and illuminate the Ajax details in development process, give some advice to the software engineers who maybe use this model to complete their RIA based Ajax and JavaEE.
