With the progress of society and the increasing demand of people's need, traditional multimedia processing technology is gradually taken place by new methods. Since HDTV has reached a great progress in recent years, HDTV program producing technology becomes a new hot spot in research field due to its application value and marketing foreground.Aiming at consummating intelligent networked HD nonlinear editing system, this thesis designs a video engine for JPEG2000 based Material eXchange Format through DirectShow technology. This video engine supports multi-definition characteristic of JPEG2000, with which we can decode video in reduced definition according to specific application situation.Concentrating on low FPS and JPEG2000 decoding speed, this thesis extends experiments on engine optimization from two points of view: cutting down decode speed and designing better mechanism. Using SIMD and OpenMP technology for faster decoding speed, the decoding speed on dual core platform almost catches the upper limit proved by Amdahl law. Meanwhile making full use of human visual system and JPEG2000 interframe characteristic, the playing mechanism optimization makes the played frames distributing more evenly along with almost triple FPS improvement.At end this thesis summarizes the video engine development and optimization work, prospecting its further optimization direction and application foreground.
