Comprehensive attention has been attracted to the building and application of enterprise knowledge management (KM) system. To survive in the competitive and changing world, many organizations and enterprises have to build up their knowledge management system and make full use of new enabling information technologies. As the requirements and the objects of knowledge management (KM) keep changing, the reconfiguration and evolution of KMs becomes an important area in KM research domain. However, there are no effective methods available yet to support evolution and consistency of knowledge objects. Meanwhile, there is no method available to solve the granularity problem of access control. Taking the Ontology-based reconfigurable KM System Framework as a starting point, and considering the practical requirements of enterprises, this paper focus on the version management of enterprise ontology and the practical method of access control to the objects. In this paper, firstly a framework is proposed for ontology evolution, and a method, which is adopted into our KM system for knowledge instances versioning, is designed.Secondly, an access control model which is based on relational algebra is put forward for the priority granularity problem in our KM system. The access control rule and the representation language of it are formally defined, and the implementation of this model is designed.Thirdly, on the basis of ontology modeling tool and in combination with practical requirements, this paper puts forward the detailed implementation of a knowledge communication forum and introduction of rich text data type, which enhanced the representation of knowledge. Finally, the application of this framework and the directions of future research are discussed.
