With the rapid development of Chinese trade, retail trade is continues to change at an incredible pace. The total amount of China's consumable reached 6500 billion in 2006. It provides a large platform to retail trade. More and more chain retail company strengthens their management; improve their competitive by more powerful information systems.Multimedia price checker system is developed under this background. It is a design based on the price checker of large retail chains. While the current price-checker is not PC-based and has very poor display function, this paper develops a new PC-based price-checker expanding the function of current price-checker. This new price-checker has much stronger function and can provide better service. It can be used to scan barcode and query price, manufacturing location, packing information. Customer can also get much other information like promotion, loyalty card information on this machine. This paper introduces the system architecture design, structure design, and detailed system design of the application software in detail. Describe the use of Microsoft message queue in .net in this system. Discuss the solution of client remote monitor, client certification and online update.This paper is based on a practical project; it has wide use in chain stores. In this paper, price checker design is successfully put forward and implemented, and the methods and technology are commonly helpful to other researchers in this field. This paper can also provide reference and has the guiding sense to the information system development as well as the application of message middleware application. The system also promotes chain store's service and makes the chain store more competitive.
