Aiming at the development of compact light sources needed in free-space optical communications, the paper completed the design and fabrication of an amplifier integrated with a semiconductor laser light source.By analyzing the space laser communication requirements and the characteristics of semiconductor lasers and amplifiers, this paper put forward integrated amplifier structure to improve emitter optical power, designed a master oscillator power amplifier (MOPA) chip of 850 nm wavelength.The calculated device specifications of the designed MOPA is: Threshold: 1~2A, Wall-plug Efficiency: over 35%, Max Power: over 2W. In the wavelength, power connection, it is speculated that the MOPA device can be in line with free-space optical communications requirements, and the device can be used for free space optical communication experiments.
