With the first development of information technology, software crisis become even more serious. For the purpose of mitigating the crisis, to be studied how to maintenance the existing system more effectively is needed. The software reverse-engineering is about analyzing system, abstracting system and exhibiting system, and elaborating the method of analyzing system, and applying the new technology and the demand to the existent system. It will fundamentally enhance the systemic maintenance and development, and will increase the ability of the comprehensive understanding system.This paper discusses soft was reverse-engineering, further researches related techniques and methods.This paper introduces two key technologies UML and RUP, UML and RUP is the new software engineering technologies. This paper is based on the positive RUP and apply it to software reverse engineering .The software reverse engineering is done by the three main steps. The three key steps are mapped to the RUP disciplines and phases. Each step exhibits the RUP iterative process, driven with Use-Case and designing architecture. This paper is beginning to drive with Use-Case to analyze the exist system's the basic functions by driven with use-case and is reflected on the abstract model, the analysis mode, and the implementation model. This paper also elaborates the software reverse engineering techniques and methods, which is reflected on the example of the reverse engineering process.In this paper, the RUP theory applied to the reverse engineering by using mold flowing software Moldflow / MPI as an example to prove the feasibility of the approach.
