The Study On Information Architecture Based On Information Ecology

As a hotspot in the study of library and information science, information architecture mainly studies effective information organization and exhibition, aiming to satisfying people's information need effectively. As an advanced idea, it represents foreland of library and information science. Interaction is emphasized in information ecology, with the main idea that information activity is understood from a new angle of view. I think, it bears important theoretical and realistic significance to study information architecture systematically from the angle of information ecology.At first, the thesis reviews the development and research status quo of IA, and analyzes its connotation from its origin and definitions, subsequently, introduces concepts of ecology, information ecology and their main points, then discusses the internal relationship between information ecology and information architecture, so the idea that IA is utilized to improve information ecology is provided. Thereafter, research achievements of IA and information ecology are reviewed. On the basis, interaction mechanism is brought forth after analyzing context, content, users in IA and niches of the three elements, information architects and information technology. The concept and model of information architecture based on information ecology is provided, and its process and the embodiment of information ecology in IA are discussed. At last, by analyzing The stories of China, the information architecture based on information ecology is explained, which make the theory advanced concrete, at the same time, the success of the books is interpreted.In the thesis, many methods are used such as literature investigation, analogy analysis, case analysis, interdisciplinary research method and so on. The innovations are reflected in the following aspects: information architecture is studied systematically from the angle of information ecology for the first time in order to set up the model of information architecture based on information ecology; its concept and model are provided, as well as its realization; the idea is advanced that the theory of information ecology are applied to guide IA, and the theory and method are applied to improve information ecology; by the way of case analysis, the limitation that almost all what is studied in IA research is web IA is broke through, which makes for the contrast between book IA and web IA.
