On July 7, 1937, anti-Japanese War broke out. There was a sign for it—Lu Gou Bridge incident. Since then China became the focal point promptly in the world. And large amount of foreign reporters swarmed into China. They reported China's battlefield and political situations. Their track almost covered all the big cities, big battlefields and anti-Japanese revolutionary base areas.The famous reporters were Edgar Snow, Helen Foster Snow, Anna Louise strong, Agnes Smedley, Israel Epstein, Harrison Forman, Theodore H White, F. Tillman Durdin, Archibald T. Steele, Cyates McDaniel, James Bertram, Freda Utley, Gunther Stein, and Hans Shippe.During the war, the foreign reporters mainly worked in the following areas: the areas of Kuomintang, the places controlled under the Communist Party, and the anti-Japanese battlefield.On the report contents, the foreign reporters discovered the wild ambitions which Japan wanted to invade China, the crimes which Japan militarism committed in China, the passive attitude of the Kuomintang government to the war, and Chinese soldiers' bravery in the war. More meaningfully, the foreign reporters took the risk of going deep into the areas which controlled by the Communist Party. The works they made expressed the resistance situations which took place in the areas and the Communist Party's policy. The journalism block was broke out, and a great influence was produced.Of course, the reporters also played their mouthpiece roles, especially for Japanese press circles. The attitude which it had was not only cooperative, but also expanded the affairs and irritated the war. They worked for the Japanese government, propagated the aggressive policy. The innumerable works which they made to sing the praises and show off the "glorious achievement" which Japanese troops made. Foreign reporters also left many works, such as Red Star over China, The Battle for Asia, Inside Red China, The Chinese Conquer China, The Great Road, China at War, The People's War, The Unfinished Revolution in China, A Report from Red China and so on.The foreign reporters' journalism activities in China, which broke out the journalism block made by Kuomintang government, introduced the Communist Party of China to the world, and defended the anti-Japanese national united front.
