Research On The Recognition Of PDF417 Barcode

The barcode technology has been developing rapidly since its appearance and has been used in various application field. With the development of technology, the one dimension barcode can no longer meet the social needs because of its limitary information capacity and dependence on data-base, so the various 2-D barcodes come into use and generalization among which the PDF417 barcode is most widely used.In foreign countries, 2-D barcodes technology has already been applied in many fields, and they have produced 2-D barcode reader system with good property. However, in China, this technology is just at research phase, so we have dropped behind the foreign countries greatly. The main factor that astricts to develop 2-D barcodes technology in our country is that the 2-D barcode identify systems in current market are sold too expensive. Because of the characters of 2-D barcodes, we must take measures to reduce the cost of system to develop this technology. Therefore the research focuses on auto-identify of PDF417 barcode image, namely, the research of recognition algorithm.The main task of the research is recognising the collected PDF417 barcode image, namely, dealing and revising the image, and then dividing single row in the barcode image, finally, recognising every codeword by using projection algorithm. The research make a good base for the next decoding part.The result shows that the 2-D recognition system, which is designed by the reaearch is able to implement to recognise the image of PDF417 barcode.
