With the development of Integrated Circuit technology, Field Programmable Gate Aarry plays an important role in the Integrated Ciruit design. Especially, with the rapid development of EDA technology and the constant perfection of its function, FPGA becomes one of the most extensive application programmable logical devices in the electronic design field. As a result FPGA is a compulsory content in the Integrated Circuit design teaching. So it is necessary to design an applied FPGA experimental teaching system.According to the development tendency of FPGA and the teaching requirements of undergraduate FPGA courses, American Xilinx Spartan-3E FPGA development system is selected to research on the experimental system which suitable for undergraduate FPGA teaching. In terms of the characteristics of the system, an applied, systematic and suitable project of experiment and teaching is designed. The system not only can meet the needs of current FPGA experimental teaching, but also can adjust the designs along with the upgrade of Xilinx development system, then satisfy the updating requirements of experimental system. The whole experimental system uses ISE as development environment and writes the program files by using HDL. Finally, the designed circuits are simulated and download tested.The experimental teaching system covers the field of signal control, embedded system and communications system and over ten experimental projects, which can rather meet the experiment requirements of undergraduate FPGA teaching. The experimental system has the characteristics from simplicity to difficulty and deepening from basic experiments to the newly-innovative experiments. So the students can not only master FPGA design methods very quickly but also stimulate subjective initiative and cultivate their interests and innovative abilities.
