In the 3rd generation mobile communication system, WCDMA system is one of the important technologies of 3G. It uses RAKE receivers to resolve and combine multi-path signals. This means that much more effective multi-path signals can be Rake combined in WCDMA systems, which may improve system performance significantly by suppressing the effect multi-path fadings and reduce the capability of suppressing MAI. The purpose of multi-path acquisition is telling apart the different fingers'signals from one user equipment. If Rake receiver can't capture enough multi-path signals, the capability of Rake receiver and the uplink chip-rate assistant system of WCDMA system will be played down.It can be seen in the paper that multi-path acquisition decide the coarse PN code phase and pick up the available multi-path components. Through considering both the practical requirement of project and the capability of hardware, choosing UMTS DSPs is more appropriate to realize this function and the whole uplink chip-rate assistant system. Designed an assistant management module based on Application-Specific Standard Processor TMS320TCI110 in realization. The software module was made up of PD, PM, FD three sub-modules which corresponding to homologous functions in hardware. By using API interfaces'functions, microprocessors and managing resources of hardware this software module can realize multi-path acquisition as one of the functions that TCI110 offered.The assistant management system is combined with uplink chip-rate assistant system, test in EVM environment and true environment, to validate the realization of multi-path acquisition. Testing results show the functions of multi-path acquisition in uplink receiver meets the requirement of WCDMA standard in 3GPP protocols and has good performance. At the meanwhile, potential of the scheme is indicated that it can improve code executed efficiency by optimizing code and predigest state machine under the condition of being harmless to system.
