Electric power market, which has brought a global innovation in power utilities, was growing up from the end of 20th century, and the essence is introducing competition, enhancing efficiency, and stimulating fair trade. In the environment of"Separating power plants from power network, to set up power market", the hydrothermal scheduling has a new meaning, the main objective of which has changed to minimizing the total cost of purchasing electricity from minimizing the system operation cost or thermal fuel cost. As influencing factors in power market are so complicated, it is very hard to describe it by normal mathematical model, so computer simulation becomes a very effective way to study the power market.This thesis has built a regional power market simulation model aimed to single buyer mode with High Level Architecture (HLA) simulation criterion, based on which the whole simulation system has been designed and realized. Based on analyzing the structure of the whole power market, this thesis developed the object classes, interaction classes and federate members, designed the whole simulating process. The simulation is a federation formed by six federate members including three hydroelectricity-generate companies, one heat-engine generate company, a power network company and a trading center. Through publishing or subscribing the attributes of classes and sending or receiving interactions, we simulate the operation of the power market. The optimization problem of hydrothermal scheduling is a large, discrete, high dimension, non-convex, nonlinear problem with complex constraints, and is difficult to solve. This thesis developed and realized a regional power market simulation platform Based on Lagrange Relaxation (LR) algorithm according to HLA criterion on Visual C++ 6.0. It simulated the combined scheduler for hydropower and thermal power in regional power market.As the development of innovation on power industry, power market will be founded all over the country. The power market simulation platform which is based on HLA can simulate the power market dynamically and can be applied to simulate the running of power market in different regions, which is very useful to shorten the period of power market's foundation in these regions.
