At present, RS232 and RS485 bus are widely used in communication of automatic color register control system, and they have some disadvantages below. Once one of slave devices in traditionary mode doesn't work, it will lead to the whole communication system collapse. The communication speed is too slow to be meet the current needs. RS232 and RS485 bus are both master-slave mode, and they can't form multihost or redundant architecture. CAN bus can solve the three disadvantages above.Therefore, this thesis presents a scheme for automatic color register control system based on CAN bus, and designs a printing machine control system whose master machine is industry control computer, slave machine's control chip is 87C196KC, communication bus is CAN bus, linking mode is special-purpose keyboard and CRT monitor.On the basis of systems analysis of work theory, this thesis simply designs hardware and software of control system, and analyzes CAN bus technology characteristics. Based on the system's factual requirement, it puts forward a communication scheme based on CAN bus, and designs CAN application layer protocol specifications, also designs hardware schematic diagram and corresponding software based on CAN bus. In the end, it is put into acutual system to test.The experiment results indicate that the proposed control scheme can realize good communication performance, meets manufacturer's needs.
