The Research For Technology Of Edge Detection Based On Grey Level Image

Edge is one of the most important features of image and image edge detection is the main aspects of image processing. For edge detection is the core content of image segmentation which is the key linkage between image analysis and image processing and also the foundation of image understanding, edge detection is a hot point for researchers in the field of image measurement technology, and is being one of the most classical research subjects of image processing, image analysis and computer vision. In recent years, many new theories and technologies are presented. The theory and methods on edge detection still have much room for improvement. These detection algorithms were used in the detection and recognition of targets, however the measurement accuracy is difficult to achieve a satisfactory result for the effect of further improvement and development.The work of this paper is summarized in the following for image detection technology based on the grey level image:1. The classical edge detection technologies and ways to improve these technologies are summarized; a detailed account of mathematical mechanism is introduced. The characteristics of parallel various image edge detection methods are analyzed experimentally. The advantages, disadvantages and the scope of these methods in application are also analyzed.2. The edge detection methods with filtering characteristic used in project, LOG operator and Canny operator are detailed discussed, and their algorithm are systemically studied. The features of these two methods are analyzed comparatively, also for their scope of application.3. In order to eliminate the influence of noise on the quality of image edge detection, we have firstly filtered the noise before image edge detection. By comparing filtering technologies, we found in experiment that combination of filter and edge detection can remove noise effectively, and can reach a relatively satisfactory results.4. Finally, we presented a scheme by combining MATLAB and Visual Basic programming language to design the software for noise filtering and edge detection of the collected image.The works of this paper have some reference value for the study and application of image edge detection technology of image processing.
