Chinese coal reserves take up the third in the world, and are only next to the USA and Russia. Now, China is consuming on 1/3 of the coal in the world and 80% of the electric power and 75% of household heating are depending on the coal. With the incessant penetration of the economic system reformation of our country, and with the continuous acceleration of modernization course, the production in coal mine will be bound to alter the tactics of persons at present, and it shows the modern management and production technology to people. One of the key techniques of realizing the mine management and production modernization lies in the modernization of information management of mine.Mine Geographical Information System is the application of Geographic Information System (for short GIS) in the mine, and it is an important branch in GIS. There are two important kinds of spatial objects in Mine Geographical Information System, that is to say, tunnel and stratum. Tunnel is the thoroughfare that transporting coal to ground from the working face in mining production, and is the thoroughfare that is used for ventilation and is used to transport workers safely. For all the mines, tunnel is the central part. If tunnel is as the research target by oneself, we are more concerned with the inside feature in tunnel such as purpose, rack feature and interior installation and so on. Therefore, research and development of three-dimensional model of interior installation of tunnel and tunnel have significance to mining safety, mine optimum design and visualization of calculation.The following six questions are mainly discussed in this paper:①The present research status on system of three-dimensional tunnel in mine is analyzed in this paper; The main problems are pointed out and corresponding methods of solving these problems are also introduced in this paper.②The present research status on three-dimensional data model and three-dimensional data structure that are used to the coal mine is analyzed in this paper, Finally, three-dimensional data model and three-dimensional data structure that are suitable to the coal mine are concluded.③In this paper, resource and feature of three-dimensional data model to the arch tunnel and interior installation are mainly researched; design thinking of the arch tunnel model is given out; algorithms of three-dimensional model about tunnel body and the joint part of the adjacent to tunnel body are achieved; in addition, relevance algorithms of texture mapping technology to interior in tunnel body and three-dimensional model of interior installation of tunnel are also researched.④Three-dimensional of model tunnel, texture mapping to three-dimensional interior of tunnel,three-dimensional model of interior installation of tunnel and three-dimensional tunnel cruise are achieved using OpenGL in VC++.NET.⑤The paper describes the total design thought, frame, and function module of the simulation software of system of three-dimensional runnel in mine. Main development tools for system of three-dimensional tunnel in mine are VC++. NET, which is object-oriented programming language, and OpenGL, which is application program interface for three-dimensional graphic. The development operation system is Microsoft Windows. All modules in the system design are realized.⑥Progress and shortcoming of studies presented are concluded on-going research works are proposed.
