On The Libraries Of Colleges And Universities And The Cultural Construction In City Communities

In October 2007, the 17^th National Congress of CPC puts forward that we should pay attention to the corresponding cultural development in the cities and rural areas as well as communities. And we should pay more attention to enrich the spiritual and cultural lives of the people in rural and remote separated areas as well as the people who come to the cities to work. The purpose is to construct harmonious culture and to cultivate civilized atmosphere. To do so, it is important to mobilize the enthusiasm of cultural workers so they can make great progress of culture, and they can create new culture in the great socialism construction with China's characteristics so the people can share the cultural fruits.The libraries of colleges and universities have rich resource of human civilization. How to bring them into full play in the development of regional cultural construction and harmonious cultural construction is an important task to be settled for literature and information workers in the new time.Therefore, this paper analyzes the significance, necessity and feasibility of libraries of colleges and universities in serving the cultural construction in the city communities. It also analyzes the advantages in literature and information resource, the advantages of professionals, the advantages of basic establishment and the advantages of technical equipment. It expounds the connotation, features and relationship of harmonious society and the cultural construction in the city communities. The paper also analyzes the opening and regional characteristics and arrangement characteristic of its subjects and contents, the abroad participating characteristic as well as the characteristic of time effect in the cultural construction of the city communities. The paper puts forward the problems and the causes in the construction such as cognitional warps, indifference in community consciousness and so on. Finally, this paper gives some strategies for the construction such as construction and sharing of literature and information resource, building community study centre to organize some cultural activities, affording information consultation, establishing special database to provide individual service and so on. From the aspects of opening up the working fields and exerting literature and information resource of libraries of colleges and universities, this paper tries to discuss the significance, necessity and feasibility of libraries of colleges and universities in building socialist harmonious culture especially in the cultural construction in the city communities.
