With the rapid development of traffic in modern city, traffic accident happensfrequently, especially the accident like wedging or hitting bridges caused by someoverhigh trucks. In order to reduce such accidents, a new design of laserheight-limiting instrument for vehicles based on embedded system is introduced inthe paper. The design has the follow feathers: the convenience for installation andmaintenance, identifying roadways, having a user-friendly interface, and so on.Design thought and research significance about thesis were presented in thepaper. Then, it introduced the ARM embedded developed platform based onLPC2210 microprocessor, the building ofμClinux developed platform and thedesign of diver program. And then the work flow and interface for laserheight-limiting instrument were designed based on MiniGUI graphic interfacesupport system. Afterward, it described the laser detecting model particularly, whichperformed the identifying roadways function using laser phase-shift rang finding. Atthe mean time, due to the thesis need, I fixed the circuit parameters, design lasermodulation sendding circuit, received signal circuit, mixing and crossed-zerotransforming circuit. Moreover, I designed a phasic detector and counting controlmodel on CPLD chip applying VHDL language, which was intergrated, more stableand credible than logic circuits composed by individual elements. The designed system in the paper had some simulate experiments throughwireless toy vehicle. The experiments showed that the system could judge over heightexactly, achieves±10cm precision in detecting roadway, and it's practical. At last, the paper introduced the research of laser speed finding.
