This project is a computer monitoring system designed for Personnel TrackingSystem based-on Radio Frequency Identification in mine. The main target of theproject is to transmit the personnel information, which is collected by a monitorin the mine, to the monitoring computer in ground center station. The monitoringcomputer will store and display the information, to realize the personneltracking.In this design, computer data communication is the combination of RS-485 busand CAN-bus. RS-485 bus is applied between a monitor in the mine and a concentrator,while CAN-bus protocol is applied between a concentrator and the monitoringcomputer in ground center station.RS-485 bus adopts pricipal and subordinate mode to communicate. A host is aconcentrator. A subordinate is a monitor in the mine. All operations arecontrolled by a host. Subordinates can't send forwardly out orders or data, andthey can't communicate with each other. CAN bus is a kind of serial communicationbus which works in multi-host mode. Any node of the netwok can momentarily andforwardly send messages to other nodes. So this mode is more flexible incommunication. This system introduces the main point of the design about CAN-busnode in details.The serial comunication software of the monitoring computer in ground centerstation is programmed by VC++ using MSComm, which is simple and can run reliably.A database, whose function is powerful, based on ODBC(Open DataBase Connectivity),is programmed to display the personnel information in monitors and store thehistory information. A suit of mapping software, which is simple and ease ofmaintenance, is programmed. And a mine topology map is drawn by the mappingsoftware. With the mine topology map, distributing situation of undergroundmonitors can be intuitively and clearly seen. So dose the workers' information,who are around the monitor.
