Study Of Value-Based Weapon System-of-Systems Requirements Traceability And Change Impact Analysis

As important and difficult problems of weapon system-of-systems requirements management, requirements traceability and requirements change impact analysis play significant roles in managing weapon system-of-systems requirements effectively and ensuring the weapon system-of-systems developed satisfy the initial requirements.This thesis discussed the concept and connotation of weapon system-of-system requirements management and analyzed the contents and characteristics of weapon system-of-systems requirements traceability and change impact analysis. While there are many methods and techniques on how to technically store requirements traces, the issue of requirements traceability strategy remains open. So the thesis introduced the notion of value-based requirements engineering and proposed the value-based weapon system-of-systems requirements traceability strategy to support relative manage staff in tailoring requirements tracing precision and effort based on the assessment of importance, risk and cost of each requirement. The strategy consist of four necessary steps: 1)requirements evaluation; 2)requirements linking; 3)requirement traceability index analysis; and 4)requirements traceability adjusting. At the foundation of requirements traceability, the thesis analyzed the weapon system-of-systems requirements change impact scope and proposed the method of tailoring the impact scope using the requirements value change rate valve. At the last, the thesis analyzed the special demands which the weapon system-of-systems requirement set for management tool and presented the prototype system of weapon system-of-system requirements management tool which developed at the base of DOORS.
