Because of the complexity of software, lack of historical experience, shortage of estimation tools and some artificial mistakes, software scale measurement has always been one of the key technologies in the field of software engineering. The FPA (Function Point Analysis) estimation method of IFPUG is the most mature and the most widely used software scale measurement method.Firstly, this paper extensively studies the basic principles and technologies of various software scale measurement methods, and deeply analyzes estimating process and implementation rules of FPA IFPUG method. By using this method, we can conduct a comprehensive function points analysis and estimation on MIS system of the digital campus in NUDT(National University of Defense Technology). Then, on these bases, this paper improves the FPA's deficiencies of IFPUG as follows:1. A more detailed delineation of the complexity of the intrinsic functional components is given and the power value under the precise quantification circumstances is also given;2. Aimed at the system development of GUI type projects, we do a growth power and lower power analysis for some system adjustment factors. By using project examples, we give a merits and demerits comparison with improved method and unimproved method. The results show that the improved IFPUG function points measurement method is more closer to the actual system development on the software scale measurement. This paper gives a good reference to the comprehensive and scientific implement of FPA of IFPUG, and also do a beneficial research to the improvement of the traditional FPA. The basic idea can provides a better way of effectively complementing the FPA of IFPUG.
