As the traffic problems become prominent in Chinese large cities for the amount of mobile cars intensely increased in the recent years, the research and application of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) draw a lot of attention with instant desire. Microcosmic modeling and simulation of traffic flows, an essential and direct way of observing the traffic situation and analyzing the traffic problem, is a proper entrance into the ITS research field. This paper describes the analysis of the behavior characteristics of dynamic traffic objects in mixed traffic during the research and development progress of Urban Traffic Simulation and Analysis System (UTSAS), and gain several achievements as follows:(1) Established a traffic conflict model of dynamic objects in intersections: Recited the definition of traffic conflict and the process of cars' dealing with it, and brought forward a conflict model of motor cars based on conflict point. Applied the aforementioned model in the mixed traffic environment with interference of bicycles and pedestrians. Introduced the traffic lock of multiple traffic flows and the pre-unlocking arithmetic related to it. Realized the traffic conflict model through software simulation and validated it in both qualitative and quantitative aspects.(2) Made improvements on the Vector Field Model of bicycle: Represented the behavior characteristic and Vector Field Model (VFM) of bicycle, and explained the insufficiency of VFM in simulation application. Made improvements on the startup model of bicycle using the car-following model modified by Anderson E and the braking model using the law of Newton Mechanics. Modified the free-drive speed in VFM to enable the bicycles overtaking other cars as they wish. Modified several initial settings of bicycle to fit the performance of bicycle group passing the intersection. Introduced the process of realization of bicycle models.(3) Brought forward a uniform way, the decision-space method, of describing the behaviors of dynamic objects: Explained the insufficiency of existing uniform method of modeling, described the decision-making process of dynamic objects and their reaction to the influence of traffic situation around, and brought forward the decision-space method based on optimize programming problem. Gave out the process of establish velocity decision space of various kind of dynamic objects and the expression of restrict conditions. Analyzed the elements included in the goal function and the general expression of it. Introduced the process of describing the overtaking behavior of cars and moving behavior of pedestrians using decision-space method. Explained the process of the application of decision-space method by solving a factual problem. Finally, Summed up the total paper and listed the prospect of future works related to the research areas in this paper.
