In the past the research mainly fixed attention on the macroscopic model, which discusses the relationships among the change of traffic stream flow and density. By reason of the high-speed development of computer science and need of traffic simulation, the focus is transferred to microscopic models. Microscopic model calculates position, speed and acceleration of every vehicle at each moment. It can offer great deal of information to traffic management and simulation. This dissertation focuses on microscopic traffic modeling and urban microscopic traffic simulation. The main contents are listed as following:1. The second chapter presents a new method, adopting High Level Architecture (HLA ) technology for developing urban microscopic traffic simulation systems. We developed a federation prototype of traffic network, which can basically implement distributed simulation of the urban microscopic traffic system. We dissertated the theory for federate members base on rough classification method , introduced the development process of federation and also the Federation Object Model( FOM) and Simulation Object Model ( SOM) . In addition, we performed elementary simulation herein, whose results are compared and analyzed, which shows that it is a feasible approach to research and develop urban microscopic traffic simulation systems with using HLA.2. After analyzing of currently existing urban traffic model, in the third chapter the new urban traffic of three-dimensional simulation model is put forward. By ArcGIS we created the two and three-dimensional models with node, section, segment, lane as fundamental elements. At the same time, the modules of traffic inspection and control administration are introduced too. Comparing with forepassed urban traffic model, these...
