In recent years the research about eliminate the bottleneck problem of the streaming media service by the P2P pattern has become a hotspot in the field of application. Moreover, how to guarantee the quality of streaming media services and promote the system play performance on the premise of taking full advantage of the resources between many nodes in the P2P network is one important aspect in the research field.On the basis of analysis and summary of the existing definition of P2P streaming media system, a primary problem of Performance Optimization of P2P streaming media in a P2P system and the main forms of P2P streaming media performance characteristics are deeply analyzed in this paper.Optimization measures and mechanisms to improve system performance are further investigated and discussed. The main details are as follows:First, on the basis of analyzing and summarizing of the existing P2P media streaming system, main forms of P2P media streaming performance characteristics and comprehensively considerations to improve P2P media streaming performance are analyzed The importance of influence about Cache-Management Mechanism on media streaming performance is put forward.Second, a typical model of on-demand streaming media system and as well as the nodes' cache-management model and the related assumptions are proposed. Important problems in the cache management are formalized, and methods of the cache management to effectively improve P2P streaming media system performance are conceived. And the specific node's cache management algorithm is designed.Third, a BitTorrent based simulator, called as BitP2PStreamSim, is designed, which is used for the performance simulation of our P2P media streaming system. By the comparison and analysis of different results derived from the experiments, different optimization effects on P2P media streaming system are analyzed and the optimization function of node's cache management algorithm on P2P media streaming system performance is indicated.
