Research Of Cross-platform Technology Of AciveX Control

ActiveX control is used widely in Internet and desktop fields nowadays, and it is provided by Microsoft and used by Windows platform as a program design and developing technology. Because of Linux is compatible with Windows, ActiveX control counldn't run on Linux directly. That can not meet the demand of Linux consumer who wants to use ActiveX control, and also limited the development of ActiveX control technology and generalization of Linux. So, make Linux support ActiveX control is very important, not only for popularizing Linux, but also for saving develop cost.In order to run AcitveX control on Linux directly. The paper analyse the COM technology and ActiveX control mechanism at first, and then presented a middler-ware mechanism consisting of three functional layers, which were opereating system compatible layer, COM mechanism supporting layer and ActiveX control feature supporting layer. And opereating system compatible layer is base on Wine an open source project, and it eliminated the difference between Windsows and Linux. And COM mechanism supporting layer support COM mechanism and ActiveX control mechanism in Linux platform and implement the COM and some feature of Windows, such as register table, auto-register mechanism and so on. This layer is the keystone of this paper and it is also keystone of implement of COM mechanism and ActiveX control mechanism. And ActiveX control feature supporting layer implement the speciality of ActiveX control, it is just an extension of this paper but not the keystone of this paper.And last, to make our research more practical and convincible, all the implementations have been seriously tested. Considering the theoretical value of our research, some useful conclusions are made, too.
