At present, most of the web service products in China software market are developed over the Windows platform. Although many software producers claim their support to Linux, but, in fact, only their server uses Linux to deploy and the clients still have to use Windows system and IE browser. Those web service software introduced with cross-platform technologies, theoretically speaking, can be migrated to Linux with no difficulty. But before the system is integrated into Linux platform, large scale of workload in compatibility test and partial modification will cost plenty of manpower and money. Those applications sharing with most of the present market are utilized Microsoft' s technologies so that when migrated to Linux they need to be re-constructed, re-designed and re-coded. The cost will be quite huge. The paper focuses on how to migrate a typical web application, e-government office automation system, from Windows platform to domestic Linux platform which has independent intellectual property. It has studied some key technologies and proposed corresponding solution.
