Mobile Ad hoc network is a multi-hop and temporally distributed network which isformed by a collection of wireless mobile nodes without any existing networkinfrastructure. It is featured with acentric distribution, dynamic topology, multi-hoprouting, wireless transmition and so on. It has a future of broad application in occasionssuch as military, disaster rescuing and mobile temporary meeting and so on.Firstly, the basic definition of mobile Ad hoc network is introduced, including themain features, system structure and topology structure, key technologies andapplications of the network. Then, the current main routing ways——Table_Drivenrouting way, On_Demand routing way and Mixed routing way are introduced, and themain routing protocols of the three ways are analysed and compared. And then thedefinition and realization of DSR are described and a typical improved protocol of DSRnamed MDSR is presented. Then a scheme of improvement to the MDSR is proposed.Compared to the complex MDSR, the improved protocol uses the ratio of linkdelay-time and link stability-time as the measurement of routing performance to chooserouting, and is featured with power control mechanism. Simulation results show that, under different scenarios, the improved routing protocol reduces the complexity ofMDSR without obviously reducing network performances.
