Multi-video processing technology is critical to many video-needed fields. With the bandwidth increasing of wireless and wired networks, it becomes possible for the wide use of multi-video processing system. Recently, multi-video processing system with higher definition has been a hot research thesis.In this paper, TMS320DM642, which is one of the top DSP of TI Inc., is used as a core processor to complete a multi-video processing system with four high-definition video inputs and one output of different standards. The system contains these blocks: video decoding, data storage, video processing, video encoding, serial-port communication, CPLD control, etc.The video technologies and configuration of typical video processing system are the bases of the design in this paper and they are all described firstly. The hardware design is the critical part of this paper, according to the required system performance and the chips'datasheets, a general design of the system is proposed, including basic configuration, work mode, and real time analysis of the system. During the process of the specific design, the components selection and hardware circuits are completed, such as video decoding and encoding, storage space distribution, system clock generating, video ports setting, power supply, resetting and so on. Furthermore, a new method to improve the system is proposed. In the end, a brief introduction to software design of the system is given.
