With the development of science and technology, display devices are becoming more and more digitalized with higher resolution. High-resolution digital video is expanding fast and the resolution becomes higher and higher, with the widespread of HDTV, High definition camera, high definition monitor, etc. However, analogue device with standard resolution still manipulates the market due to the high expense of high resolution device. In order to solve the problem, we are studying about high definition video segmentation based on FPGA technology so as to substitute high resolution device with standard ones.First of all, the thesis introduces the hardware of the video division system, including the power module, FPGA core module, high resolution camera module, FIFO storage module and video encoding module. To specify these modules, camera is responsible for the collection of high resolution video, FPGA for core control, FIFO storage for buffering video encoding data and the last one for video encoding and D/A convertion.In addition, the thesis explains FPGA module in detail. FPGA module mainly includes initialization module, video format conversion module, video division and FIFO storage reading control module, video encoding and control module. To specify all these modules, initialization module is responsible for the initialization of the camera and the encoding chip, video format conversion one for conversion from Bayer format to YCbCr, video division and FIFO storage reading control for dividing video data and controlling FIFO storage, video encoding and control one for NTSC digital video encoding, FIFO reading and writing and controlling decoding chip. Due to the complicated system function, the requirement for FPGA speed and inside logical resource is relatively high. In light of this, VIRTEX-II PRO XC2VP50of XILINX is used in this project. The system implements the conversion from high resolution video to standard one via graph division which divides high resolution video into four standard ones for display. The system not only implements video division, but also involves two extra functions which are color column display and BMP picture display.
