Research On Resource Metadata Management In Education Grid

Large in quantity and different in form and format, the education resources in the Education Grid are hard to uniform and manage effectively. However, with the method of metadata description, such resources can be integrated with the local resources and complexity of different kinds of resource information can be screened, thus realizing share of resources and information. The paper has accomplished four experiments. First, it has studied the characteristics of education resource metadata norms in China and other countries and based on the study and NORMS ON METADATA DESCRIPTION OF SPECIAL FIGURE OBJECT, designed a metadata description model fit for the education resources of XiDian University network educational academy. Second, combining Web service frame standards, the paper has also proposed a model for metadata Web service in the education grid. Third, the paper has conducted systematic analysis on the contents and norms of UDDI protocol and thus designed an information model for the metadata service registry center. Fourth, the paper has set up a Web-service-purpose developing frame for metadata management system and designed the functional modules for the system to realize its main functions. Based on metadata expression of education resources and Web service technologies, the paper has successfully solved the problems in publishing and management of education resourceinformation as well as in resource search.
