High speed electro-optic modulator and its driver are key devices for large capacity optical fiber transmission network and high speed information process in optic-electronic system. In this thesis, the emphases are placed on the key technologies in the theoretical analysis and optimum design of Lithium Niobate electro-optic modulators and its drivers, based on the introduction of the devices'development and application in the world.The contents researched in this paper are divided into two aspects: In the first aspect, the electro-optic modulator is analyzed and designed properly. In this part, firstly crystal structure and physical characteristics of Lithium Niobate, which is used to make electro -optic modulator, are analyzed. Secondly, working principle; structure and characteristics of electro-optic modulator are introduced. At last the electro-optic modulator is designed properly. In the second aspect, the technology of the driver is studied. The compositions and functions of the driver are analyzed in this part. Simultaneously, the design scheme of the core part is mentioned.Through the experiment, the working factor of electro-optic modulator and its driver, as well as the work process of electro-optic modulation system, is clear. After analysis and argumentation, the design of electro-optic modulator and its driver is feasible in theory.
