The laser ranging is a technology for precision measurement; it is developing along with the appearance and the development of the laser technology, which is extensively used in the military field and the civil field because of the good accuracy. However, the traditional laser ranging systems used discrete circuit structure in the unit, not only caused the higher development costs, more complex circuits, debugging difficulties and many other issues. Moreover, such a system with large size and weight, has seriously hindered the universal application of the laser ranging system. Therefore laser ranging technology is developing towards miniaturization and integration in recent years. This paper seeks to find a integrated program of laser ranging, which will integrate laser receiver circuit for an ASIC, reduce the traditional laser ranging system to three parts, lasers LD, PD, and an ASIC.In this paper the design of the laser ranging system is based on phase-laser ranging principle and integrated all of current measurement technology, which is based on the FPGA chip using DCM dynamic phase shifter functions to achieve phase measurement. The design is easy to achieve and have no complicated process, not only being able to reach higher laser ranging accuracy, but facilitating circuital design of outer-ring greatly, making the system integrate greatly, meeting the demand that the laser ranging system develop towards to miniaturization and integration. Moreover, it minimizes the effect from the environment and reduces the requirement to testing environment. The innovations of this paper is:1. Based on square-wave to realize the modulation and launch of laser and facilitate circuital design of outer-ring;2. Based on the FPGA chip to realize the data processing system for laser ranging and be good to the integration of system.In the design of the laser ranging system based on DCM, the paper details the calculations from phase information to distance information using DCM, compounds the results measured by different measuring tapes and converts the binary information of distance into decimal to display. With the help of the Virtex- II Pro of Xilinx, the feasibility of the design is tested by programming and simulation. On condition to adopt many times measurement to seek average, the accuracy of the design can reach 3mm and the distance of ranging can reach 100m.The novel design can realize the data processing system in FPGA chip to make the base of special integration chip and be good to the integration of ranging system.
