Banking collection system supports a large amount of most popular third-party businesses such as the collection of telephone, water, electricity, gas and television fees, taxes, administrative expenditure and payment of wages for the customers through a variety of channels. In 2005 The Bank of Communications had brought forward the concept of innovative financial services and products. To enhance the competitive capability and upgrade the service quality of regional branches, the bank calls up all of these branches to attach more effort on localizing and characterizing the intermediate businesses on the basis of Headquarters' integrated system, increasing intermediate business varieties and enlarging business transaction channel. The development of banking business is closely connected with the electronic platform, for instance, more complexities come forth as a result of constantly increasing of intermediate business varieties; more security requirements are raised due to the diversification of transaction channels. Besides, the booming increase of users and transaction volume calls for stronger dealing capability of banking system. The old programme that was designed for dealing with certain business is incapable of meeting current system requirements. Hence, a new collection system of intermediate business is specially developed for unifying transaction procedures of all collection businesses, improving the system maintainability and concurrent transaction capability, and reducing the transaction cost of banking collection businesses. In this paper, the traditional "waterfall" model of software development is applied in bank collection system for demand receiving, demand analysis and system design. By C/S mode and UNIX platform, SYBASE database and C Language programming, and the technologies inclusive of shared memory, indicating light and table-driving, some functions in the system such as daytime transaction, integrated management and transaction monitoring are operationalized. This paper analyzes the background and current situation of intermediate business collection system, briefly narrates the main problems of system that need to be solved, generally describes overall situation of the system, details the methods of system demands analysis and design. In addition, system supporting technology and method are also given for the settlement of some key sections including interface, transaction module and original version documents. The article analyzes the four key issues and gives solutions accordingly as follow:First, as the units cooperated with the bank cover every walk of life, the existed businesses are different from each other on the transaction flow and interface. The system must be designed to unify the interface and transaction procedure of every collection business before and behind the bank counter. Therefore, the public data structure and process configuration files are applied in system to make all collection businesses polymerized at the banking terminal.Second, intermediate business is the part that changed most frequently in the banking system. With the development of new collection item, the terminal system is enlarged and updated constantly. On the system, the programming shall be done by modules, while the public function base and original version documents shall also be used to reduce the coupling probabilities in terms of business variety and procedure, thereby the system updating and testing costs can be reduced and flexibility is improved.Third, it is determined by the speciality of the financial sector that collection system must be of high security, high reliability, high efficiency. During the software design process, the main concerns are offsetting mechanism and transaction monitoring, to which the solutions shall be raised by using shared memory, indicating light and code conversion technologies.Fourth, how to reduce transaction costs and increase transaction volume are critical to the successful operation of systems. If the fees are collected by cash and bank cards through a variety of channels such as client counters, telephone banking, Internet banking, self-service equipment, and other contract recipients, the pressure of abundant transactions on banking counters can be eased, while the manual transaction cost is reduced, the bank card businesses are developed.
