With the development of science and technology, it sets higher request to the metrology technology. This paper discusses an automatic digital multi-meter calibration system which is based on the multi-function standard source. It can achieve automatic calibration of the digital multi-meter, and do the error analysis automatically in order to avoid the error from the manual test. This system can guarantee the value transmission and enhance the reliability of the measurement.This paper mainly describes why the system is important, how to achieve the automatic digital multi-meter calibration system hardware and software, and the data processing and verification. At last, the test result is analyzed and verification.The system consists of the multi-function standard resource, data acquisition system, GPIB bus, DMM under test, PC and printer. The multi-function standard source outputs corresponding standard signals according to the instruction from PC. The data acquisition system and the GPIB bus are responsible for the acquisition and transmission of data. The DMM under test measures the signal from the multi-function standard resource and outputs the result. The PC is central core of the whole system. It finishes instruction transmission, data reception and estimates the uncertainty automatically. Finally it transports the result to the printer. The printer is responsible for the final printing.It is focused on the difficult techniques that appear in the control of the threads automatic test progress, bottom control of the apparatus, open design of the database in the software design.In the uncertainty verification, the uncertainty resource is analyzed, and the classic uncertainty theories are used to verify the system.Contrasting of the result of the test and the standard values, it can be find that the system is stable and satisfied with the fact, reached the goal of the project.The system has a higher usability. It not only can avoid those errors from the manual examination, also it can analyze the measurement result automatically and diagnose the common faults. This system can reduce the measurement uncertainty to the minimum and guarantee the measurement to be correct and reliable.
