The issue of mine safety production has always been the primary bottleneck in restricting the development of modern mineral resource excavating industry. The traditional mine safety supervision systems are constructed mainly on cable communication infrastructure while the information exchanging mechanism depends on human participation, which makes the communication link quality susceptible by environment and makes impersonal, timely and accurate gists unavailable for production management. The continual advancement of the industrial grade wireless network technology provides a new solution for current safety supervision system defects. ZigBee, as a new generation of wireless communication technology, has been widely used in low data rate industry field due to its low power, low unit cost, networking adaptability, large network capability features and so on. Here a design of safety supervision network based on ZigBee wireless platform is proposed for mine production management including the functions of working condition sensing, man locating, safety alarming and so on. The discussion can be divided into three sections as mine networking model analysis, development of the equipments of wireless sensor network and design of management software for the monitoring center. Finally the lab prototype system for the supervision network is given and some special theoretical issues of wireless network in mine are probed into for a basic resolution.
