The Design And Implementation Of SMS System On Smartphone Platform

With the development of mobile communication, mobile communication system will provide digital services instead of voice services gradually. And the cell phone usually providing voice service are changed to be smart phone with PDA, E-commerce and entertainment. SMS (short for Short Message Service) send and receive text messages through a phone, and it is a very important function module of smart phone. Now SMS has been integrated into some network standards, like GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications), CDMA, TDMA, PHS, PDC etc., it make SMS become a very popular mobile data service. For the reason of following phrase 1 standards of GSM, SMS has its own limitation. MMS (short for Multimedia Message Service) is the next version of SMS, it has no limitation about the size of message content and complexibility. We can develop varieties of mobile communication services through MMS.After studying the basic principle of Smart Phone system, the principle of Short Message Service system, and getting some knowlage about SMS'network architecture and the SMS service under mobile system, we developed an SMS module on PALM OS 6.1, and it is based on GSM protocol system. The short message service model is based on GSM short message, using SMPP model to implement the running of short message service. Component architechture are used to support designing and reuse of the function modules. The system use AT command to implement the accepting and sending message efficiently.In the period of designing and coding, some traditional testing methods and embedded system-based testing methods are used largely. As a result, the system get good performance in system's connection, correctance of content and logic and little delay of the respondence of the system, and finally get to an expected result.
