The Device Management Of Smart Home Based On BACnet

With the development of smart home and the improvement of habitation, the requirements for the smart home are increasing. If the smart home would make the life comfortable, convenient, energy saving, safe and effective, it depends on different kinds of devices in the house, but it more depends on communication and cooperation among the house devices. How to make diverse devices cooperate with each other has become a pivotal problem in smart home.As an open and ISO standard data communication protocol for building device, BACnet protocol provides the mutually communicating mechanism for different devices and systems. Using BACnet, all kinds of devices could communicate with others, and then they cooperate to make home smart. So BACnet solves the integration of devices in smart home radically.As an important part of smart home, device management must use BACnet to describe devices and make them communicate and cooperate.Firstly, this paper introduces the definition, function and development of smart home. On such base, we analyze the advantages of the smart home based on BACnet in detail, combining with the characteristic of BACnet. Then, we give the model of smart home based on BACnet and describe its working theory.Secondly, according to object model of BACnet, this paper designs device management module of different sub-system in smart home, then it analyses how to use BACnet to describe the estate and strategy of device thoroughly. As an innovation, it also designs memory and share of estate information and the centralized configuration of strategy information.Thirdly, basing on standard BACnet service and the mechanism of intrinsic reporting, it expatiates on how to control and supervise the devices, and how to make them cooperate. Later, we test the device management module. The test result indicates that this module has achieved the goal of design and satisfied the user's requirements.Finally, this paper summarizes the work of this paper and analyses the limitation of this module and gives some specific advice, which paves well the way for the next development and realization of device management in smart home based on BACnet.
