The Design And Implementation Of Information Retrival Model Based On Ontology

With the rapid development of Internet, World Wide Web has been the main medium for global information. Information retrieval mainly concerns how to efficiently retrieve required information from massive information sources. However, current information retrieval technique usually adopt the method based on keyword matching or topic taxonomy. It has little semantic inferring ability and usually returns much irrelevant links which the users have to spend much time to rule out. How to improve the quality and efficiency of information retrieval becomes an important study field of information retrieval (IR) and knowledge management (KM).Tim Berners-Lee proposed the concept of Semantic Web in 1998. In Semantic Web, information is given well-defined meaning, better enabling computers and people to work in cooperation. Ontology provides semantic expression mechanism for Web information and is the key technology of Semantic Web.Ontology has capability to represent meaning of the information by a hierarchical structure, and its reasoning support. Ontology-based information retrieval is a promising method. Ontology includes the definition to judge concept so that the machine can understand the concepts of the domain, the relationship between concepts in a unified framework. The system could comprehend the query of user by analyzing user's query expression and mapped it to information resources. Retrieval has much higher performance than traditional methods.This paper analyzes the problem and disadvantage of traditional retrievals in Web. Following, this paper makes a deeply research on the concepts, describing languages, constructing methods and analyzes the semantic ability of the Ontology. Furthermore, a framework of information retrieval system based on Ontology is proposed. Key techniques have been also deeply studied in this paper. As three solutions about Ontology construction, semantic inference, semantic matching are proposed.This paper constructs an archetype retrieval system and developed it successfully. An ontology named soccer onto was built and actualized the function of semantic information retrieval based on this ontology.
