The primary factor which restricts the application area of SCADA system is its lineate-data-communication method at present, especially used in the place where the terminal-device requires moving or the region monitored is quite vast. So we urgently need a more flexible kind of communication method. With the development of the Internet technology and the China mobile communication technology, utilizing the GPRS wireless network communication technology in the long-distance monitoring system becomes a new research and application hot spot gradually. In addition, although the design and development of SCADA system is growing up day by day, one important topic-the versatile design of long-distance monitoring terminal is neglected usually.Combined with above two aspects, this article proposed Research and Design of Terminal Device Monitor Based on Wireless Network. We use the MCU to design the terminal device monitor, and do every effort to make it versatile so that it can collect all kinds of signals. The data collected can be transmitted to the data center through the short-distance wireless network and the GPRS wireless network. This design offers a reliable and inexpensive plan to construct SCADA system that can adapt to many conditions, so it has an important practical significance.This paper firstly illuminates the GPRS communication technology, including the correspondence principle, the correspondence merit, the method to structure Internet as well as some questions we should pay attention to when we use GPRS technology, which is the theoretic basis to its application. Then briefly describes the design plan of the overall system and its composition principle. After that, emphatically introduces its two main contents: one is the design of terminal device monitor, including its software and hardware design in detail; The other is the research of data-transmission based on GPRS wireless network, and specified it mainly from its communication process, the detailed explanation to GPRS DTU and the software and hardware design of communication between MCU and GPRS DTU. Finally, simply introduces the design of data center and also tests the data transmission function of GPRS wireless network.
