People's life changes a lot with the daily improvement of scientific technology. The rapid progress of computer technology is applied to all trades and professions. The era of information is coming. With the advantages of convenience, rapidness and practicality, the Information Management System is gradually coming into routine management of hospital so as to improve efficiency, release staffs from heavy busy work and reduce the probability of mistakes.This Information Management system is developed to meet the requirements of a local orthopedic hospital. Starting from the actual business of the hospital, we can manage all the work well with complete intelligence by means of computer. The function includes: clinic registration, clinic charge, inpatient registration, inpatient charge, simple storage management, patient inquiry, list printing, user's authority limits etc. This system pays attention to the operation simplicity for users. With clear interfaces on window design and function design and simple operation, this system has the general clear style of software.Based on ADO+ Delphi and following the principal orders of analysis, design and realization of software development, this system applies thoroughly technologies such as needs analysis, outline design, detailed design, database ER picture, software test etc. Using Delphi as the development tool, ADO database accessing technology, C/S the mode, Windows the operating system, this Information Management System has reliable developing technology and is extendable. If it is needed to transplant to Lunix platform, it can be easily realized by Kylix (developed by Borland) and dbExpress technology (Borland's new multi-platform database access interface for SQL database management system) with few changes on codes. Using Access as the RDMS, SQL as data update, it has a good compatibility. All the operations on database are protected to prevent mistakes. Logically the system is divided into three levels: interface, control and entity. All the logic is realized on the level of control. The storage process and trigger are not in the database, so it is easy to change this database into other relative database with few changes on codes. With a clear structure, good readability and maintainability, the whole system can be easily transplanted and extended to B/S mode in the next step.My thesis has seven parts. Part One briefly introduces Project Suggestions, Part two needs manual, Part Three cases analysis to user's needs, Part Four the general design framework of the system, Part Five the detailed introduction of the database design of the system, Part Six the design of the system and with three cases to show the actual realization process of interface- control- entity type of software, Part Seven the test of software.
