The All-Around Network Management System Based On University Campus Network

With the popularity of Internet applications, an emerging problem is how toguarantee the network devices work reliably, safely, and efficiently. For variousnetwork devices and their software, a good network management system can provideeffective supervision, explanation and control. Therefore, network management is avery important issue of the research of network technologies.Network management is a procedure in which a complex network is monitoredand tuned to perfect performance. It includes routine use and maintenance. Theincreasing complexity of the network incurs the tough job in managing it. Severalinternational standards have been applied to meet this need. This paper here discussesmany aspects of the network management based on SNMP under university campusnetwork environment. Also, it discusses the role of SNMP in implementing thefunctions of management system.The first chapter of this thesis presents the problems and challenges we faced,and systematically describes the concept and basic functionality of networkmanagement and analyzes various structures of network management modes in detail.On this basis, then choose SNMP as the basic portocol for campus networkmanagment platform which is suitable for such network and finally implement themanagement system on it. The second chapter elaborates the result for researchingSNMP theory; author comprehends the real circumstance for the particular campusnetwork, put forword a kind of new distributed network management system modelwhich is based on SNMP and J2EE platform and has a multi-layer structure. Owe amodel the structure the complicated network management system is designed for "thecustomer one tier of distributed network administration managing end applies one tierof nets managing centre selling one tier of nets at reduced prices dividing and rulingyuan tier " this four steps to reduce flexible network administration complexity, toprovide the most nimble cut-over at the same time nature and as far as possible big augmentability.Then, the paper gives a concrete sample to show how to design and implementthe architecture of the management model. It shows how to implement the differentfunctions and how to make use of the collected data. The campus networkmanagement system, which has been running on line. The management system isprovided with main functions such as device management,IP searching,topologydiscovery,device's interfaces control, etc.
