Research And Design Of The Network Management System Based On Mobile Agent

Nowadays, the ceaseless enlarge of network scale and increase of network complexity and multiplying bring out new requirements and challenges in theory and practice of network management. A good network management system (NMS) should provide reliable services for the users and help network fully to exert their functions. At present, the most of NMSs are based on SNMP which is centralized management mode, but it has more and more difficulty in modem network management. Mobile Agent technology is a rising technology which is characteristic of mobility and intelligent, if it is applied to network management system, it can greatly enhance the flexibility and scalability. Meanwhile, it is independent on platform and can easily manage network cross-platform. This is a tremendous advantage in managing complex network. Merging the Mobile agent and network management technology based on SNMP can take full advantage of mature technology in managing the network elements. Not only existing investment can be protected, but also upgrading network management system can be conducive, which is the ideal network management scheme. At present, it is still in the research stage. The research focuses on the design of network management framework. However, the practical application and analysis of the system development are rarely.At first, the concepts of network management, the existing problems and developing trend of the network management have been introduced in the paper. The simple network management protocol called SNMP has been lucubrated. The current mainstream network management system called centralized network management system based on SNMP has been analyzed. The mobile agent technology and its main research application areas have been presented in detail. Then, the network management system framework based on mobile agent has been proposed. The important algorithm, called network topology search algorithm based on mobile agent, which network management system has been implemented by has been discussed. The design of performance detection module in management system has been studied further. The interface between mobile agent system and system based on SNMP has been realized. The parameters of monitoring network performance and its implementation have been proposes. Finally, the performance between network management system based Mobile Agent and the traditional centralized network management system based on SNMP has been compared.
