With the development of wireless communication and network technologies, mobile database is becoming a new researching direction in database fields. Relative research is mainly focusd on replication caching, query optimizing, data broadcast, security and mobile transaction. Among these topics, research of query optimizing is one of the key technologies.However, all kinds of current technologies of mobile database are still improved on traditional technology of distributed computing and distributed database. But these improvements can't meet the needs of mobile clients indeed, especially when the scale of mobile clients become very large. Meanwhile the agility of mobile computing needs a certainly kind of agile technology to fit it. Mobile agent technology has many intelligent properties such as autonomy, activity, reactivity, mobility and sociality, which make it be the best choice to realize mobile database system.In this thesis we first introduce the development of mobile computing and the current technology of mobile database in recent years, and the application of mobile agent. Then we discuss the status of mobile query based on mobile agent in detail. After analyzing some existing technologies, we adopt zone-based query transaction model, in which distributed query and mobile query unite and are managed together.By virtue of the above study, we design a query optimizing transaction model based on mobile agent, and present a query optimizing algorithm based on containment and merging, which can reduce query workload. At last the query optimizing algorithm is analyzed and implemented in the constitute component of MDM2.This article is a attempt which we apply mobile query, algorithm based on containment and merging, we adopt a more advanced, zone-based query transaction model. Experimnent achieve satisfactory result.
