Now adays, it's much harder to design the hardware system because of the increasing complexity and decline of the reliability.When there's something wrong with the system,the traditional self-repair technique based on board- reconfiguration is not helpful.So, EHW(Evolvable Hardware ) technique show its superior and advancement. It can release the stress of the designer and meet the reqirement of the environment. It is universal of self-repaired.This article introduces the conception, characteristic, research history and foreground of EHW. In the second and third parts of the article, it introduces the Evolvable Algrithm and Programmable Logical Device with emphasis on the JPL FPTA2 cell structure. The forth part introduces the simulation of analog signal amplifier based on 2 FPTA2 cells using Hereboy algorithm, SGA(Simple Genetic Algorithm) and Improved Genetic Algorithm. The simulation is operated by the controlling program using Microsoft Visual Studio and Pspice simulator. It searches the best evolvable algorithm and best operators by setting the different mutation probability and methods of choosing the individual which need to copy. The results show that the Hereboy is best in the simulation.Based on the simulation, it also designs the hardware evolution system of consist of one JPL FPTA2 cell.It downloads chromosomes by the serial port of the PC, transferring to the SCM. The chromosomes control the analog switches in the circuit and the circuit evolves. The ouput is read back to the PC by PCI data sampling card.
