Under the prosperous development tendency of mobile value-added service andthe extended application of WAP, WAP application system about location basedservices is designed and development in this paper, people can get the locationinformation in anytime and anywhere. The way of bearer service is based on WAP,with fat server and thin client. Therefore, this system adopts J2EE as developmentplatform. It is suitable to construct a location services system with abundant contents,fast change as well as a great deal of adjustment provided multilayer distributedarchitecture, support of heterogeneous environment as well as flexible control ofaffairs.According to development process,ranging from demands investigation to systemimplementation are fully developed in the paper. First the technologies on WAP andJ2EE involved in location based services are introduced, in which communicationmodel of WAP and application layers and component of J2EE are emphasized,Second two kinds of popular models about implementing services system on J2EE aresystematically analyzed, compared to them, model-controller-view pattern isintroduced which represents model2.this system is distributed several modules by theway of analyze the function of service and database is designed. Then, conformed toMVC model, user authentication module, urban traffic module, electronic mapresearch module, bulletin and message module as well as information managementmodule are implement, At the same time Chinese character encoding, the security ofuser password, access to heterogonous platform are also resolved successfully. At lastrepresentative service models are tested in simulative environment of WAPapplication service.Strictly according to MVC pattern, The system is implemented based on fourlayers distributed architecture. JSP+WML is used to create view, Servlet as controlleraccepts requests from user and transfers different component from model, JavaBeanprovides data and performs business logic. Compared with traditional model, the threeparts of application programmed are independent, the display logic and business logiccan be abstractly separated. The Web designed in front and component developed areindependent. Components are reused and shared which makes development efficiency.The service models can be developed and operated separately on the platform, whichmakes system strong applicability, easy to maintain and easy upgraded.this system has the characteristic of extensibility, flexibility and reuse. Work inthis paper provides application value as to meet the needs of getting locationinformation in any time and any where for people.
