With the development of the science and technology and theimprovement of the living standard, people want to improve their livingquality. In this situation, researchs on smart home systerm already becomea popular topic. With the popularization of network technology and thedevelopment of embedded Internet, the smart home has changed fromPC-centered control system to embedded control system. The smart homeremote moniter technology syncretizes such technology as computing,multimedia, communication, network and so on. It has become one ofstudy hot and has broad application prospect and research value.Syncretizing the technologies, such as computing, communication,network, the smart home remote monitoring technology has broadapplication future and research value. On the basis of analyzing the previous research achievements,effectively combining advanced embedded technology, video technology,and network technology, this thesis puts forward an embedded remotemonitoring system design solution based on the Windows CE operatingsystem.A Web server is built on top of the WinCE OS.Vedio informationis collected and transferred using an USB camera and a local device driveis also accomplished, which enables remote control. The client contains thecontrol module as an ActiveX control, so the remote monitor can be usednot only on the Web page but also by other remote applications, which isgood for the system debugging and future research. The author alsoincluded a method that verifies the safety of the system as regular times.Because most of the control functions are provided by the ActiveX controlon the client, the web server only needs to do some data processing. It isgood for an embedded system with limited resources and this is exactly thetarget of this paper. This system is simple, fast and easy to be controlled.The design of the web server hardware and the key main idea of thesoftware(the drivers of USB camera and stepping motor, the realization ofweb server and the ActiveX control)are presented in this paper.Userinterface and operating method are given in the last part. Experimentalresult indicates that the system can work stable, which offers a solid basisfor its wide adoption in future.
