With the continuous progress of science and technology and the comprehensive development of society, people’s living standards increase year by year and more and more people started to pay attention to their living environment. People’s living environment has gradually improved toward the safety, comfort and intelligent aspects. The smart home system using advanced computer technology, network communication technology, embedded technology, sensor technology and automatic control technology, the integration of individual needs, systems and home systems to centralize manage. Embedded systems to integrate many of the functions normally done by the CPU to a small chip, thus making the development of embedded system design to small, so that the level of integration greatly improved. And the control end of the system can accept signals from the sensors and send control commands according to the control strategy, and home automation.This paper introduces the research background and significance of the smart home system, and Research of the intelligent home and future development trends. Detailed description of the hardware and software design of home appliances in the smart home system control technology and remote monitoring technology, and a brief description of the key technologies used in the system design.This system is based on the ARM microprocessor for the center of the home gateway hardware platform, use the embedded operating system, control the combination of technology, sensor technology and network technology, a highly intelligent home system. External system through the Internet network, internal household appliances and other networked facilities connected through wireless LAN within the family as a whole, to achieve the centralized management of information appliances, security. According to the relevant requirements of the smart home system software design, this paper explored the embedded systems architecture and development process, and a detailed analysis of the system hardware platform to build the structure of the ARM microprocessor system, based on the ARM nuclear TQ2440memory, Ethernet chips and other peripheral circuits.
