This paper stems from the Chongqing NSF project,"Research on optimal cover of WSN in three-dimensional", and the cooperative projects of Doctor Foundation,"Research on self-adapt mechanism of routing protocol for WSN". This paper analysis some wireless sensor networks MAC protocol(include single channel MAC protocol and multi-channel MAC protocol), then excogitate a Low Power Dual-channel MAC protocol, and emulate it in NS2. With comparison and analysis of the emulating results, it represents the performance report of improved protocols, which will finally support the design implementation of MAC protocol in the projects. The main work and achievements of this paper are summarized as follows:1. It provides a comprehensive background of the catalogue and definition of WSN, the main characteristics, the developing trend and future development and pointed out what to do in this paper.2. According to time synchronization for wireless sensor networks, this paper find out the time model of WSN nodes and the relationship between time velocity synchronization and time warp synchronization.3. It represents the advantages and disadvantages of existing MAC protocols through the compare and analysis, then classed the MAC protocols, and studied some of them.4. With analysis and research on the time synchronization arithmetic and MAC protocol this paper excogitated a low power dual-channel MAC protocol, then emulate it's performance item(such as power consume, throughput and the number of exchange messages) in NS2, after that detailed analysis and discuss of it's emulation results.
