Wireless network MAC protocols can coordinate the fair use of wireless channel resources to achieve reliable transmission of data and affect the performance of wireless networks significantly. Traditional wireless network MAC protocols are mostly single-channel protocols, this technology makes network throughput of the entire network severely limited. In order to make better use of wireless channel resources and improve wireless network throughput and reduce network latency, multi-channel MAC protocols are becoming a hot topic to solve the problem, the existing multi-channel MAC protocols for wireless network have their own restrictions, therefore a new multi-channel MAC protocol has great significance. In the paper, firstly the problems of multi-channel MAC protocols are analyzed, then some existing multi-channel protocols are compared to identify shortcomings, at last, a new single-transceiver multi-channel MAC protocol based on 802.15.4 is proposed, and evaluate the protocol through simulation and hardware experiment. The main work of the paper include the followings.Firstly, a channel allocation mechanism based on the most discrete is proposed, it is possible to avoid adjacent channel interference and alternate channel interference exist in the wireless network, and the channel switch forecast mechanism based on Markov from the relevant results of Zigbee experiments, this is the theoretical foundation for the proposed new multi-channel MAC protocol.Secondly, a new single-transceiver multi-channel MAC protocol based on 802.15.4 is proposed, a detailed design for time synchronization mechanism, channel access mechanism and channel allocation mechanism is completed, the paper improved TPSN time synchronization mechanism to achieve faster and more accurate time synchronization of full network, an adaptive CSMA / CA channel access mechanism is designed to achieve faster channel access to reduce network latency, a new channel allocation scheme is designed to avoid channel conflict in the network and improve network throughput.Lastly, the NS2 experiment results present that new network protocol is better than the other protocols in the network performance, it can increase network throughput and reduce network latency. The hardware experiment results present that the protocol can achieve smaller packet loss rate and transmission delay.
