Design And Development Of The Bandwidth Manage Of The Firewall Based On NP

As the demand of the multi-media businesses increase, such as sound and video, network has gotten greatly development. School, enterprise, bank and government organization have own LAN. These LANs are connected through Internet, and transmit commercial information and other important data through it. And now the security of networks has became the problem that internet user must face. Therefore, the security of the LAN is very important. The most effective method to protect network is to install firewall at network entrance.At present, the security of networks has become the problem that internet user must face. Firewall is the most used technology in network security. However, the traditional network devices which are ASIC based or pure software based, could hardly satisfy with both performance and flexibility requirements. To overcome this obstacle, the parallel and programmable network processors have been invented, which carry the network developments to a new stage. Developing firewall based on network processor, we can achieve the firewall technology flexibly for the network processor's programmable features. At the same time, the network performance can be good meet for the linear processing speed. In a word, the firewall based on network processor can provide much better performance and security for internet user.This dissertation, which mainly covers my design and development based on Intel Network Processors. Firstly the paper introduces some basic knowledge about the Intel IXP2400 Network Processor: mainly describes the hard architecture, soft architecture and IXA software framework of Intel IXP2400 Network Processor. Then the paper introduces some basic knowledge about the firewall mainly including the technology background, concept, classification and key technologies of Firewall Technologies. Then the paper introduces the NeTrust Giga bits Firewall System: it mainly including NeTrust NP system hard architecture, soft architecture(the architecture of data plane, control plane, manage plane and Xscale, microengine).Then the paper mainly shows the design and development of the module of the management of bandwidth, it mainly including the whole design of the management of bandwidth Module on Control panel and the implementation of the initiation, internal processing and the messages processing in detail. At last it shows the test and debug of the software including the test and debug and their outcomes.
