At present, the trend of wireless communication technique is miniaturization and highly integration. As an important trend, researches on microstrip antennas for mobile terminals have been paid much attention. The researches are mainly focus on aspects as follows: miniaturization, wideband, multi-band.In this paper, miniaturization, multi-band and wideband techniques applied to mobile terminal antennas are summarized. Many means are combined to design a novel, practical and feasible microstrip antenna. The main contribution of this thesis includes:Firstly, do research on the miniaturization, multi-band and wideband techniques, and propose the possibility of combing several techniques to achieve a novel microstrip antenna.Secondly, combine several techniques to design an antenna which can operate well. 1) An innovative design and research method for miniature multi-band microstrip antennas with combination of U-slot, meander-line slot and Shorting-wall loading is proposed.2) Based on the method, a miniature multi-band microstrip antenna operating at 2.65GHz/8.2GH is proposed. The module is simulated and tested to prove reasonability and feasibility of the academic study. 3) Based on the previous design, deeper research is done. Capacitively loading technique is added to achieve a miniature multi-band microstrip antenna operating at 900MHz/1800MHz.A paper has been published for the research achievements mentioned in the thesis.
